Wardy wins the big final!
The inaugural Bishop’s Blaize league cup took place on Saturday 21st April. Two groups of 7 players played a round robin of 301 best of 3 double in double out. There were some of Romsey’s elite on show with Leesy and Adam Hope notable favourites (yeah right!) on the day. The ambidextrous Ben Jakey decided to break his throwing wrist not long before the event so that he could show his skills off throwing with his left hand. This backfired though as he lost all 6 of his round robin games and finished plum last in Group B.
Eligh was the firm favourite to win the tournament before the start and he cemented this by dropping only 2 legs in his 6 wins in the group stage, however he ran into an on-fire Wardy in the semi final. In a great game, Wardy turned over the favourite 3-1 in a high quality match.
The final was a rather one sided affair as, unfortunately, the doubles went missing for Salter and Wardy ran out a 4-0 winner. Great day had by all and well done to Wardy for picking up the £100 first prize!
